Hailing from the hi-desert of Joshua Tree, Emily moved to the central coast in 2010 and acquired a Masters Degree in Applied Marine Ecology with a focus on Geospatial Information Systems (GIS). Her background in conservation science allowed her to hone her technical and analytical skills in the geospatial industry. Her post academic career solidified her passion for using GIS to create solutions across industries in fields such as land-use planning, public safety infrastructure, and environmental monitoring. Beyond GIS, Emily is an avid scuba diver, skier and backyard chicken wrangler.
Zak is a central coast native with an academic background in natural resource management. His natural inclination towards building and design led him to work in the AEC sector. At Cen Cal GIS, he intends to use geospatial technology to impact community-level design, and create public spaces that inspire people to live outdoors and foster a sense of place. Off the clock, Zak is a jazz pianist, bodyboarding fanatic and more recently, an heirloom seed collector.
